What is the eXEROSImeter

eXEROSImeter is an educational tool for optimized diagnostics, treatment and management of dry skin in practice.

 

It contains the information about the degree and possible locations of xerosis as well as a recommendation for basic therapy. eXEROSImeter is available as a mobile application for Android and iOS devices, as well as a web-based educational tool.

How to use the eXEROSImeter

eXEROSImeter consists of global mass index that varies from 0 to 4. It also shows the possible degrees of scaling, fissures and redness that can vary from 0 (none) to 4 (very severe) as well as itching from 0 to 10. There is also a recommendation of a therapy depending on the body region affected in each case. Also based on the affected body surface there is an information on quantity calculation for maintentance.

“Xerosis cutis (syn. xeroderma, dry skin, asteatosis) affects more than 10 Mio. people in Germany and is therefore one of the most frequent dermatologic diagnoses in Germany as well as a key symptom of many dermatological, internal and neurological diseases. Despite of its medical relevance, no scientific-based diagnostic and treatment algorithm exists in Germany to date."
